Appledore Lodge is located in one of the most beautiful, natural areas of New Zealand’s North Island – Paihia. In the stunning Bay of Islands where 144 islands off the coast provide a backdrop fit to be captured time and again on film. The Lodge itself sits on the banks of the historic Waitangi River which provides endless hours of birdwatching and the small rapids provide an ever changing scene. Green farm fields directly across the river are filled with sheep and lambs in the spring, giving a sense of serenity at all times. Appledore Lodge is designed with an adult atmosphere in mind and as such is not suitable for children under the age of 12.
Appledore Lodge has been growing and developing since 2001, and today offers a superb holiday experience for the discerning traveller. Fire up the barbeque by the solar-heated pool and spa to complete your adventures from the day. Your hosts, Stephanie and Carl, are very knowledgeable about the area surrounding Appledore and like nothing better than to advise guests on exactly what might interest the diverse wishes of all who pass through; where to enjoy a variety of meals to suit all tastes and budgets and generally be of help in explaining everything from where the golf course is to where to get a spa treatment. The Lodge is open throughout the year, although subject to demand may be closed for short periods in the winter months.
Upon arrival at the Lodge, guests are met and welcomed with a complimentary offer of beverages and nibbles while meeting Stephanie and Carl who will try and gauge exactly what you may like to do and see while you’re staying at the Lodge. All tours can be booked through the Lodge at no extra cost compared to if they were booked through the tour provider. This secures a place on the selected tour without having to find your way to the offices early in the morning. Stephanie and Carl have travelled extensively around various areas of the world and thoroughly enjoy talking to visitors on many subjects.
All guest rooms are furnished and decorated to the highest standard and the breakfast baskets which are provided each morning of your stay, offer a varied selection of homemade foods. Guests can expect personal attention, should they wish for it, and total privacy at all times.
